What Siri says

Live example right now: “US markets are closed for the day. The next session is Friday at 9:30 AM Eastern, in about 10 hours. US stocks closed lower again as WTI crude oil surged past $100 a barrel and Treasury yields jumped to multi-year highs, while Oracle jumped after hours on strong earnings.”

While the market is open you also hear the S&P 500's move so far today and the time to the close, including early closes. Outside trading hours you hear when the next session starts, and at weekends and holidays which day that is. The closing sentence is the same AI one-line summary shown on Live Markets, checked against the data before it is published.

How it works

  • The Shortcut fetches one public JSON file from this site and reads a single sentence from it. No account, no tracking, no third-party service.
  • You can pin it to the Home Screen, the Lock Screen, an Apple Watch face, or the Shortcuts widget, and rename the phrase to anything you like.
  • It runs entirely on your device. The only request it makes is to data.whendomarketsopen.com.
